• Americans Are Not “Little Eichmanns”

WARD CHURCHILL, HITLER, AL-HUSSEINI, ARAFAT and the Terrorists of September 11 

As Ward Churchill’s lawsuit against the University of Colorado ends its second week, followers of Churchill gear up for a rally of support. El Marco takes a look at Churchill’s supporters, and at the followers of Adolf Eichmann who attacked America on 9/11. Yes, there is a huge, unreported, Adolf Eichmann connection to Islamic terror groups. 

“You don’t send the Black Liberation Army into Wall Street to conduct an action.
You don’t send the American Indian Movement into downtown Seattle to conduct an action. Who do you send? You. Your beard shaved, your hair cut close, and wearing a banker’s suit.

And why by the way did it take Arabs to do what people here should have done a long time ago? ”        – Ward Churchill

Here he is on campus carrying plastic water pipes which he claimed represented an ancient American Indian tradition to do with parleys with enemies. Shortly after this photo was taken he was fired from his job as Professor and Department Head of Ethnic Studies at CU Boulder, University of Colorado. 

Since 9/11 Prof. Ward Churchill became the darling of the American left with comments like this:

“As for those in the World Trade Center … Well, really, let’s get a grip here, shall we? True enough, they were civilians of a sort. But innocent? Gimme a break. They formed a technocratic corps at the very heart of America’s global financial empire — the ‘mighty engine of profit’ to which the military dimension of U.S. policy has always been enslaved — and they did so both willingly and knowingly… If there was a better, more effective, or in fact any other way of visiting some penalty befitting their participation upon the little Eichmanns inhabiting the sterile sanctuary of the twin towers, I’d really be interested in hearing about it.”

Churchill’s supporters in Denver created these posters (below) and published them on their website. Despite Churchill’s denials and backpedaling that he was referring only to capitalist pigs as ” Little Eichmanns”, his comrades/worshipers have not a single doubt about their hero’s intended meaning. These posters depict average Americans drinking coffee, reading the paper, and shopping as “Eichmanns”.

Here they are selling Ward’s pamphlets in Denvers Civic Park during the DNC in Sept 2008. 

The word “taxonomy” in the poster below refers to the scientific system of naming species of animals and plants. The use of this term in the poster is a dehumanizing way of saying Ward Churchill is accurate in classifying ordinary citizens as “little Eichmanns” IE:  “little Eichmanns” not Homo Sapiens  

I have included in this essay photos of clippings from the New York Times to illistrate the true American humanity of those that Prof. Churchill has defamed and slandered repeatedly. I have kept these papers since they were published and never had the heart or the courage to read them. For this post I at last read about those who were murdered on 911 and saw a clear common thread that ran through their lives. They were hardworking, free, humane,and each an individual who loved life and were very much loved in return.

Note that Nina Bell was a business administration graduate of UC Boulder, exactly the “type” who  Prof. Churchill singled out as a “Little Eichmann”.  

Most of the world never heard of Ward Churchill before he made his now infamous comments justifying the 9/11 terrorist attacks. As hateful as his rants sound to most people, to many on the left his comments make perfect sense. It’s hate speech pure and simple and that is how the left wins arguments with good people. Since the 60s calling American people pigs, nazis, racists, etc. has become a part of life to by endured and ignored by average people. What made Ward stand out, a new star to many, was his unapologetic and clear embrace of a kind of Hipster-Marxist rhetoric.                                                                                          

Ward Churchill talks of raising consciousness and accuses America of being responsible for imaginary genocides occurring in the past, present and future. These  false arguments were also standard propaganda used by Stalin, Mao, Hitler, Pol Pot and Che  at the very same time they were going about their dirty work. 

He has even accused American Indians who criticize his fake Indian act of being Quislings to the American killing machine. 

 

Ward Churchill applauds loudly the Al Qaeda terrorists who in his estimation visited a befitting penalty on the “Little Eichmanns” who worked in financial and other services in New York. That leftists have a habit of invoking Hitler, and charges of Nazism against those who they target, is old hat. What’s new and becoming mainstream in the American left is taking common cause with and apologizing for Islamic terror.

 

Trouble is that it’s the 9/11 terrorists whose actions have a direct lineage to Adolf Eichmann and Adolf Hitler. 

 

On November 18, 1947, Adolf Hitler’s close confidant Albert Speer recorded the following in his Spandau Prison diary:  

“I recall his ordering showings in the Chancellery of the films of burning London, of the sea of flames over Warsaw, of exploding convoys, and the rapture with which he watched those films. I never saw him so worked up as toward the end of the war, when in a kind of delirium he pictured for himself and for us the destruction of New York in a hurricane of fire. He described the skyscrapers being turned into gigantic burning torches, collapsing upon one another, the glow of the exploding city illuminating the dark sky.” Icon of Evil

Hitler had dreamed of a massive attack on New York. He failed to achieve his dream. However Eichmanns protege Haj Amin al-Husseini carried Hitler’s dream to the Arab world and planted it firmly in the hearts of radical moslems throughout the region.

Haj al-Husseini’s collaboration with Adolph Eichmann and Hitler is documented in a book recently published by Random House.  Icon of Evil, Hitlers Imam and The Rise of Radical Islam. The following excerpts sketch a brief outline of the origins of Arab-Nazism from WWII until today.

 

“The mufti’s close working relationship and friendship with Adolf Eichmann, as with Heinrich Himmler, is well documented and indisputable. Following the capture of Eichmann in May 1960, the speculation about the relationship between these two men became a subject of active public discussion. In a press conference held at the time of the Eichmann trial, on May 4, 1961, al-Husseini denied any connection with Adolf Eichmann during World War II. Indeed, he claimed at this press conference that he did not even know who Eichmann was until he read about his capture in the newspapers. In fact, the mufti and Eichmann not only knew each other, but collaborated actively in their years of service to the Third Reich.

At the Nuremberg trials, Dieter Wisliceny, one of Eichmann’s senior deputies, would testify that the mufti “was one of Eichmann’s best friends and had constantly incited him to accelerate the extermination measures. I heard him say that, accompanied by Eichmann, he had visited incognito the gas chamber of Auschwitz.” 

Eichmann and al-Husseini admired each other tremendously. Eichmann, as Dieter Wisliceny recalled in his testimony at Nuremberg, “was very strongly impressed with the Mufti.” The mufti, in turn, reciprocated this admiration. When he spoke of Eichmann in the presumed privacy of his diary, al-Husseini observed that he was a “very rare diamond, the best savior of the Arabs.”

 Al-Husseini, with his blond hair, red beard, and blue eyes, appears to have been an exception. Hitler even went so far as to accept the mufti as an honorary Aryan.” As Hitler would later remark, the mufti “gives one the impression that he is … a man with more than one Aryan among his ancestors and one who may well be descended from the best Roman stock.”                                                                                                                                            

“The Nazi government spared no expense in offering him their hospitality, providing al-Husseini with a luxurious home on Berlin’s fashionable Klopstock Street, a full staff of servants, a chauffeured Mercedes limousine, and a monthly stipend in excess of $10,000, as well as four other residences and suites in two of Berlin’s must luxurious hotels.The mufti was also given a generous monthly food budget, which would enable him to lavishly entertain the many leaders of radical Islam residing in or visiting Nazi Germany, whom the mufti would be able to use in mobilizing further Arab support for the Nazi cause. 

Hitler’s Voice to the Arabs:

 Working closely with Joseph Goebbels, the Third Reich’s propaganda minister, the mufti organized and planned Nazi propaganda broadcasts throughout the Arab world. Throughout the war, al Husseini appeared regularly on German radio broadcasts to the Middle East. He began making pro-Axis radio broadcasts from Berlin as early as December 1941.

From his Arab bureau office in Berlin, the mufti was able to coordinate and broadcast daily radio messages. All the German and Axis radio stations were placed at his disposal, and Arabic radio programs were broadcast daily to every country with a Muslim population.

For the mufti… however, the common enemy was not just Great Britain, but the entire Allied cause. The mufti often called upon the Muslims of the world to help Germany in the holy war it was waging against the British and their Western allies, especially the United States. Some of his radio broadcasts were devoted specifically to condemning American policy in the Middle East.”    Icon of Evil

Haj Amin al-Husseini, Heinrich Himmler, and the Muslim Waffen-SS

“In 1943, Heinrich Himmler placed Haj Amin al-Husseini in charge of recruiting Muslims into elite units to serve in the Nazi-occupied Balcans, North Africa, and the Middle East. It is an astonishing but often forgotten fact of history that as many as one hundred thousand Muslims in Europe were recruited by the mufti and fought for Germany during…WWII.

Photographs of the mufti reviewing the troops appeared in the Berliner Rlustrierte Zeitung, German newsreels, and other publications. One of several photographs of him reviewing these Bosnian Waffen-SS troops appeared on the cover of the popular Nazi magazine Wiener Rlustrierte (Vienna Illustrated) January 12, 1944, and was subsequently reprinted on several occasions as evidence of his collaboration with the Axis. Kermit Roosevelt, grandson of President Theodore Roosevelt, interviewed the mufti in Cairo in June 1948 and wrote about al-Husseini’s wartime radio broadcasts from Berlin: “This picture and the recordings of radio broadcasts do indeed prove collaboration.”

On March 19, 1943, in a radio broadcast celebrating the birthday of the Prophet Muhammad, the mufti invoked Muhammad as a pretext for inciting Muslim anger and violence against the Prophet’s enemy, the Jews. “Arabs and Moslems, on this occasion of the birthday of the Prophet, who crushed Jewish ambitions in the past and completely eliminated them from Moslem countries, thereby setting us an example, on such a day Moslems and Arabs should vow before God utterly to crush Jewish ambitions and prove that faith in God is greater than imperialism and far more powerful than the devilry which surrounds international Judaism.”

… on March 30, 1944, he again urged the German air force to bomb Jewish buildings in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv. Again, the German air force command, under Göring, declined to carry out the mufti’s request. Unable to persuade the German air force to act on its own initiative, in late 1944 al-Husseini organized the dispatch of five parachuters to Palestine with ten containers of a toxin to poison Tel Aviv’s water system. Fortunately, they were caught near Jericho before they could carry out their mission. A police report said that these ten containers held enough poison to kill 250,000 people.”   Icon of Evil

Escaping Indictment at Nuremberg

“Had he been captured and imprisoned by the Allies at the end of World War II, Haj Amin al-Husseini would certainly have been indicted and convicted as a war criminal at Nuremberg, as were so many other leaders of Hitler’s Nazi regime.

In his testimony at the Nuremberg trials, Wisliceny, who was subsequently executed as a war criminal, was even more explicit: “The Mufti was one of the initiators of the systematic extermination of European Jewry and had been a collaborator and adviser of Eichmann and Himmler in the execution of the plan.”    Icon of Evil

 

“His role in the extermination of the Jews of Bosnia, and his oft proclaimed desire to exterminate all the Jews of Europe and Palestine, cannot be excused simply as anti-Zionism. It may be a coincidence that the decision to carry out the physical extermination of the Jews of Europe followed soon after his arrival in Germany. From the mufti’s perspective, it was providential. In fact, only two months after his initial meeting with Hitler on November 28, 1941, the infamous Wannsee Conference took place, in which the Nazi leadership produced their plan to systematically exterminate European Jewry.

There was widespread speculation that the mufti would seek to gain sanctuary in the Muslim holy city of Mecca, where he would be safe from extradition and indictment at Nuremberg, even though Saudi Arabia was officially at war with the Axis powers. Haj Amin al-Husseini, however, chose to seek refuge elsewhere.

With the help of friends in the SS…he boarded the plane in Berlin on May 8, 1945, the day after Germany surrendered to the Allies… Denied political asylum by the Swiss, who anticipated he would be indicted as a war criminal, al-Husseini soon proceeded to France, where he would spend the next year living comfortably in a spacious villa in…a suburb of Paris. The government… many of whose members were still devoted to the rabidly pro-Nazi Vichy government, was in no rush to seek his extradition. Even General Charles de Gaulle, who had led the Free French Forces against Germany, was not calling for the mufti’s imprisonment or extradition. …

Only in the late spring of 1946, when the wartime activities of the mufti would attract renewed attention owing to the revelations at the Nuremberg trials and a series of in-depth articles about him by journalist Edgar A. Mowrer in the New York Post, was al-Husseini advised by the French government that it was time to leave France. He then made his escape, flying from Paris to Cairo, where he would receive political asylum and a hero’s welcome… “  Icon of Evil

The Mufti, the Founding of the Muslim Brotherhood, and the Rise of Radical Islam

“On December 7, 1931, al-Husseini convened the World Islamic Congress in Jerusalem. Attended by 122 delegates representing all of the world’s Muslim countries except Turkey, it was convened to articulate the shared grievances of a united Islam against the West. 

 As the convener and President of the World Islamic Congress, Haj Amin al-Husseini was now increasingly recognized as the preeminent voice of radical Islam and a new and powerful force on the world political scene.

His stature was further elevated by his emerging leadership role within the Muslim Brotherhood, a radical Islamic religious organization that had been founded in Egypt in 1938. The brotherhood’s goal was to create a new world order based on Islam, an objective it still pursues today.” Icon of Evil

 Yasser Arafat became active in the Muslim Brotherhood during the early 1950s.

The Muslim Brotherhood had been founded in Cairo by al-Husseini’s ideological soul-mate, Hassan al-Banna, a young Egyptian schoolteacher and political organizer who shared al-Husseini’s passionate hatred of the British and the Jews.

 The Muslim Brotherhood, a forerunner of Hamas, Hezbollah, and al-Qaeda, was established as a pan-Islamic movement that believed in the virtue of a one-world Islamic Utopia and the use of terrorism, when necessary, to achieve its goal.

The rise of radical Islam, and the evolution of its political and religious worldview, drew further inspiration from the writings of the Muslim Brotherhood’s most influential theoretician, Sayyid Qutb, a contemporary of al-Banna and al-Husseini. 

 The writings of Qutb had a profound ideological influence on the emerging radical Islamic movement, including its principal leaders—ranging from al-Husseini and al-Banna in the 1930s to Yasser Arafat, Ayatollah Khomeini, and Osama bin Laden in later decades—and its principal terrorist organizations—Hamas, Hezbollah, Islamic Jihad, and al-Qaeda.

Together, al-Husseini, al-Banna, and Qutb constituted the founding fathers of radical Islam as we know it today.

 

This new reality affirmed the unbroken line of continuity from generation to generation, an unbroken chain of terror from Adolf Hitler, Haj Amin al-Husseini, Sayyid Qutb, and Yasser Arafat to Hamas’s founder and spiritual leader. Sheikh Ahmad Yassin, Sheikh.

Omar Abd al-Rahman, and Ramzi Yousef, who planned the World Trade Center bombing of 1993, to Osama bin Laden and Mohammed Atta, to Ahmed Omar Saeed Sheikh, the Pakistani Muslim terrorist who planned the kidnapping and murder of U.S. journalist Daniel Pearl, and to Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

Of course to a liberal radical like Ward Churchill all of the above are revolutionary heros and thats what he teaches his students. Except Hitler of course. See Hitler was a national socialist while Ward is an international socialist like Stalin. The fact that Hitler’s Mein Kampf is revered by Islamists and a bestseller throughout the Arab world doesn’t mean their bad people. The important thing is that  they share the same goal.

 In the 1970s I took this photo from the back of a Circle Line tour boat on one of my first visits to New York. I recall being envious of every small boat owner I saw on the water that day. I have been reading about those who died on 9/11 and I find that boating and fishing was a favorite pastime that many shared. Lester Marino’s quote “Look at the World Trade Center. It’s so clear it looks like you can reach out and touch it.” instantly reminded me of this photograph. Lester Marino was one of those whose lifestyle I was admiring on that quiet Sunday.
