• Red State Gone Blue. Colorado

By El Marco

EL MARCO takes his camera on a tour of the new blue state of Colorado.
Psychedelic cops, One World Cafe, Obamamania, Stoners for Obama, and Radical Colorado

Holy hallucination, batman! What’s happened to Colorado? Yes, folks, it’s real: this is what they’re issuing for police uniforms in Carbondale, Colorado.

For a number of years now police, rather than going undercover, have adopted the uniform of the stoners. See, America is becoming more like France — if you can’t beat ’em, join ’em.

Every year at the Carbondale Mountain Fair cops look the other way as this party in the park goes on a bender. As we posed this photo, one of the “usual suspects” joined in. Glass of alcohol in hand and pants a drooping, my uninvited subject adds local color and sociological depth to this image.

What? The department doesn’t issue matching BVD’s? This is a matter for the union!

The fair is a sort of miniature scale model Woodstock. Baby boomers and their progeny need close supervision. Law enforcement officers pose in front of a small horde of boomers at the Elaine Benis dance-alike contest. Have you ever wondered how the 1960’s ruined popular dance in America? I’ll bet ya Fred and Ginger wouldn’t have become famous if they had misspent their formative years watching the walls crawl and listening to Led Zeppelin.

Next stop on El Marco’s Blue Colorado Tour is Evergreen, a small mountain town near Denver. It’s the Sunday before Election Day, and out in front of the One World Café, a handful of Obama supporters occupied the center of town.

Apparently even bananas can register to vote in the new blue Colorado.

Jimi Hendrix was the king of acid rock. (see T-shirt) Hendrix died of a drug overdose/asphixiation  in 1970.  That’s the historical perspective that seems to have influenced this fellow. The term Strong America is a legacy of the major 20th century conflicts and the Cold War. What on earth can those words mean to him if ’60s pop culture is his historical context?

Recently a young commenter on Michelle Malkin’s blog posted:

“…we were not taught those things in school. We were not taught about the price of communism. We were not taught that communism failed. I myself know pathetically little about Communist Russia and Communist China. We were not taught about Cuba’s failures or the gas shortages under Jimmy Carter.
… You can’t expect us to know things no one told us. … I hope those of you with good backgrounds in history can teach my generation what you know before we really mess up (or mess up even further).
I live in a state that went swinging this year…  I think conservatives need to really communicate with my generation, and not in soundbytes. Soundbytes work in the Democrats’ favor, because that’s all they work with.

Conservatives should drown the liberals in facts…”        All true and we all have to push back against the leftists.

I’m voting for Obama because I believe in the future because the future is ahead of us, and the past has come before us. And the future is yet to come.

I believe Obama believes in hope, and hopes for a future filled with hope. If you believe that change can’t happen if you don’t do something, vote Obama

I believe that we U.S. Americans want change and Obama will change things and not leave us unchanged. If u believe the future is not now and not in the past, vote Obama.

The past is like, history, and that is so like, yesterday. If you hope there’s a candidate that believes in hope, if you believe there’s a candidate that believes in everything you believe in, vote Obama. Vote for hope, vote for change, vote Obama

When the government takes care of everything for us, will they help us buy the right size pants?

I asked this lone McCain supporter to pose in front of one of the Obamessiah displays set up on the street corners. “I was driving by and saw them, and I thought ‘heck with that’ and I went home and got my sign. When I first started, they kept telling me that I wasn’t allowed to be here. I told them it’s still a free country and that I had every right to be there. I just ignored them and after a while they left me alone.”

Prototype of future blue state voter. Can you register something like that? Takes all kinds.

This is the upper floor of the One World Café in Evergreen. It appeared to be the unofficial Obama campaign headquarters. With a large VOTE NOVEMBER 4th banner on the roof and HOPE and CHANGE posters in the windows, lots of Obama/Biden signs and a peace symbol flag out front.

COLORADO KEY TO ELECTING FIRST BLACK PRESIDENT (Rocky Mountain News headline)

I heard El Rushbo on the radio mention the One World Café in Utah was bankrupt because of their John Lennon style “Imagine no possessions” business model. Rush’s comments prompted me to revisit Evergreen’s One World Café post-election. This is what I found in the window. This café, unlike its namesake in Utah, has a menu and charges real money for the food. The All-American Burger description on the menu was rather odd. Roma tomatoes and romaine lettuce? Swiss or provolone? Whole wheat bun, who are they kidding? Don’t they know that “THE ONE” needs arugula at every meal? The only All-American thing about this burger was its price, $12.95.

I chortled when I saw this surveillance domestic spying sticker in the window. Where do we start with the hypocrisy on display here? Bush is Hitler because he wants to watch terrorists and listen to their telephone calls so New York or L.A. don’t get blown off the map?

Why not just let the “SUSPICIOUS PERSONS” come and go through unlocked doors? If they do a little arson, well, that must be your fault because you did something to piss them off! And besides, calling someone a suspicious person is so judgmental and like, fascist man. John Lennon would be outraged.

In other windows elsewhere in Colorado, Messiah worship is blossoming like lotus flowers in Utopia.

It sounds like the owner of the One World Café took some time off to write Obama’s Berlin speech.

FEEL GOOD, IT’S GOOD FOR YOU, SHOWER AND VOTE… Democrat Party platform in Denver shop window. If it feels good, do it.

In Denver, during the Democratic National Convention, El Marco asked a number of convention participants to pose for his camera. Here a Green Party supporter advocates for legalization of marijuana. His booth in Civic Center Park attracted a lot of attention from teens and children.

The baby in this scene looked so comfortable in the 90° plus heat that I had to stop and say hi. The young woman told me that she was living in a homeless shelter with her husband and the baby. When I asked what she had named her baby, I got a big shock. Sativa I recognized instantly as part of the scientific name for marijuana, which is Cannabis Sativa. This child has been named after a drug. Sweet and befuddled might describe the mother’s demeanor. Heartsick and disturbed would describe mine. I’ve always felt very sad about what she revealed to me in our conversation. A very blue moment in a state gone blue.

This lady awaits the beginning of a protest march in front of a giant canvas representation of the Declaration of Independence. Her outfit is a complex melange of stickers and symbols. On her right breast is a sticker advocating legalization of marijuana. During the DNC, the pink MAKE OUT NOT WAR stickers were ubiquitous throughout central Denver, especially popular with the violent anarchists. The orange cloth triangle pinned to her top indicates that she considers herself a prisoner of Guantanamo Bay. Really, I know it makes no sense, but… Of course FREEDOM is written on her arm, and she has the international sign of the chicken tattooed on her belly.

Barrack Obama’s nomination acceptance speech was held at Invesco Field, the Mile High Stadium in Denver. These ladies are “Special Guests” of the Democratic National Committee. “Look at my buttons! They’re hippy buttons, just like in the 1960’s!” said one of the gals. The buttons are stuck onto giant cloth purse/bag things.

In the tradition of Camelot!? Now I’m just a refugee from Canadian socialism, but I’m pretty sure that “Camelot” was about JFK and Jackie and the kids. It was never about John and Bobbie being assassinated.  JFK was a huge anti-communist cold warrior and admirer of Winston Churchill. Obama admires America hating terrorist Bill Ayers and racist ideologue Rev. Jeremiah Wright.

Myth making is high on the left’s agenda. It is essential to their struggle and here you see myth making in progress. Myth making, like sausage making, is ugly, ugly, ugly. JFK has been stripped of all his core beliefs to make him fit the radical new Democrat Party mold. A button, a cardboard cutout, a bumper sticker, and that’s all that’s left of JFK. A tax cutter and saber rattler who believed in American exceptionalism and projection of power, JFK would be denounced as a right wing imperialist in today’s Democrat Party. And Bobby? He wiretapped Dr. M.L. King, Jr.!!

John Kennedy was killed by a “Hands Off Cuba” American leftist, and Bobby Kennedy by a Palestinian assassin. Both those killers would be supporting Obama today if they were able. Just ask Bill Ayers. He dedicated a book to Sirhan Sirhan, which was republished in 2006. Camelot… Obama… radical myth making at its best.

Twelve year old protester at a Colorado rally for Obama. She held a banner encouraging Obama to keep his promise to abandon Iraq.

Everything to everyone. The modern perfection of cult myth creation. What we are witnessing is pop culture and messianic hope gone viral in the Obama cult of personality. The New York band Living Color collectively wrote the stunning rock hit Cult of Personality. Read the lyrics, watch the video, and marvel at how widely they apply their criticism to powerful figures.

Look into my eyes, what do you see?
Cult of personality
I know your anger, I know your dreams
I’ve been everything you want to be
Im the cult of personality

Like mussolini and kennedy
Im the cult of personality

Cult of personality
Cult of personality

Neon lights, a nobel prize
The mirror speaks, the reflection lies
You don’t have to follow me
Only you can set you free

I sell the things you need to be
Im the smiling face on your t.v.
Im the cult of personality|

I exploit you still you love me
I tell you one and one makes three
Im the cult of personality

Like joseph stalin and gandhi
Im the cult of personality
Cult of personality
Cult of personality

CULT OF PERSONALITY VIDEO      Listen and enjoy.

These car magnets were on sale inside Invesco Field Stadium during Obama’s Greek Temple speech. Here we see Dr. King mouthing the new Democratic Party mantra, CHANGE. The implication is that because MLK is black and Obama is black they must think the same and agree on everything. MLK was a man who dreamed of a day when we would be judged by our character, not our skin color. Obama’s true character is one of the most highly guarded political secrets in American history. Here MLK is exploited by a party who obscure their true motives with a slick political machine that uses charges of racism to shut down legitimate inquiry into Obama’s past, philosophy and core character.

Dr. King was a Republican, not a Democrat. It was Democrats who fought to keep blacks in slavery and passed the Jim Crow laws and Black Codes. Democrats started the KKK to terrorize blacks. Democrats fought to prevent the passage of every civil rights law starting with the Civil rights laws of the 1860s right through to the 1950s and 60s. Democrats fought to keep blacks down. It was Democrats who loosed the dogs on Dr. King in Birmingham.

It was Republican President Eisenhower who pushed the Civil Rights Act of 1957 and sent troops to Arkansas to desegregate schools. Democrat President John Kennedy is revered as a proponent of civil rights. However Kennedy voted against the 1957 civil rights act while he was a senator, as did corrupt Democrat Senator Al Gore, Sr. After he became president, JFK was opposed to the 1963 March on Washington by MLK, that was organized by A. Phillip Randolph, a black Republican.

82% of Republicans voted for the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Only 69% of the majority Democrats voted for it. Republican minority leader Everett Dirksen spoke for the proponents on the 100th anniversary of Republican President Lincoln’s 2nd nomination. “The time has come for equality of opportunity in sharing in government, in education, and in employment. It will not be stayed or denied.”  Democrats including Senator Robert “KKK” Byrd obstructed and filibustered the bill to the last minute and voted against it. Today, forty four years later, this Exalted Cyclops of the Ku Klux Klan is still a powerful senator known to Democrats as “the conscience of the Senate”.

Historical revisionism is part and parcel of leftist myth making. Smoke a lot of dope, listen to pop music and leftist claptrap for a few decades and they may even convince you that Lincoln was a racist.

“You can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you can not fool all of the people all of the time. ”

In this quote attributed to Lincoln, he seems clearly to be speaking of Democrat Party propaganda of the 1860s. Some things never change.

After the Invesco Field flag fiasco, Obama’s Denver rally in October left the flag business to this one solitary vendor. At $3.00 each, capitalist self interest will ensure that none of these flags end up in the garbage.

Waiting for Ward Churchill.

His is a sign that no one can disagree with if he means war is hell. But what does “sucks” really mean? It’s like the word “crap”, the number one favorite term of the liberal left. They use both words a lot and endow them with a lot of emotional meaning, but they convey almost nothing intelligible. This man is sporting a Colorado State University T-shirt. I’m thinking he’s a professor because a janitor probably has enough common sense to avoid marxist/anarchist incitement.

The leftist organization Recreate 68 threw a very public tantrum and made veiled threats of violence when they did not win a permit in a lottery the City of Denver ran for protests during the DNC. The Democrats in charge of the State Capitol were intimidated and kowtowed to the group and gave special permission for use of the Capitol steps and grounds for their Marxist rally.

This photo was taken at the main doors of the Colorado State Capitol in Denver. The Capitol Building was draped with Hate Amerika banners glorifying Saddam Hussein as a backdrop for ex-professor Churchill’s address to his revolutionaries before the Hate Amerika march. In 2004 Democrats took control of both the State House and Senate for the first time since 1974. In 2006  Democrat Bill Ritter took over the governor’s office.

Speakers included Cindy Sheehan (“The biggest terrorist is George W. Bush.”); Ron Kovic (a wounded Viet Nam war vet, and perennial protestor, who had the audacity to announce through a thousand watt public address system that he could not speak his mind in America); and the indefatigable ignoramus Ward Churchill. Professor Churchill, you might recall, claimed that the people slaughtered on 9/11 had “provoked” the attacks.         Bob Parks’ Black and Right

Also waiting for Ward Churchill, this man has a “Proud to be a Democrat” button.

Stoners for Obama.

These guys are part of the Obama campaign. They were stationed at the main entrance to the Pepsi Center DNC Convention site. That’s real grass with real grass roots under their sign, but this operation smells like astroturf. Astroturfing is a neologism for formal public relations campaigns in politics and advertising which seek to create the impression of being spontaneous “grassroots” behavior, hence the reference to the artificial grass, AstroTurf.

Here on the other hand is a type of Red that does support Obama. From the Socialism and Liberation web site: “There are widespread hopes that the Obama presidency will reverse the generally reactionary direction of the past three decades…”

To understand this young woman and the American left it is essential to understand Che Guevara, the myth and the man. To the liberal left, Che is a high ranking pop culture icon akin to John Lennon in stature. In reality Guevara was a Stalinist KGB-trained agent and director of Cuba’s horrific La Cabaña Prison. There, Che presided over the Revolutionary Appellate Court. He approved all death sentences.

He signed his letters “Stalin II.”

“The U.S. is the great enemy of mankind!” raved Ernesto “Che” Guevara in 1961. “Against those hyenas there is no option but extermination. We will bring the war to the imperialist enemies’ very home, to his places of work and recreation. The imperialist enemy must feel like a hunted animal wherever he moves. Thus we’ll destroy him! We must keep our hatred against them (the U.S.) alive and fan it to paroxysms!”

On November 17, 1962, … FBI discovered that Che Guevara’s bombast had substance. They infiltrated and cracked a plot by Cuban agents that targeted Macy’s, Gimbel’s, Bloomindales and Manhattan’s Grand Central Terminal with a dozen incendiary devices and 500 kilos of TNT. The holocaust was set to go off the following week, the day after Thanksgiving. Che Guevara was the head of Cuba’s “Foreign Liberation Department” at the time.
The Obama Campaign and Che Guevara

The cult worship of Che is a phenomena promoted in academia as well as pop culture. The logical result of this teaching is a youth population that is hostile to western democratic values, even to the point of violence.

Hats off to Colorado’s Finest for containing radical violence during this summer’s DNC Convention. Under the banner “RIOT 4 PEACE” students surged through the parks and streets but were frustrated in their attempts to cause mayhem. Cops like these saved Denver from a crazed mob that vowed to “Recreate” the disastrous confrontations of the 1968 Chicago Democratic Convention.

In a future photo essay, El Marco will examine how young Coloradans are influenced by radical professors, and the implications for American democracy.
